Category: Family Home

Am currently renovating in the NE suburbs of Melbourne and so have re-located to Glen Iris to live in the house (designed by D. Graeme Lumsden no less (he's moderately famous -- think Bowater Paper, Hawthorn; Speciality Press, Notting Hill; Nicholas Building, Chadstone; Investment House, Melbourne and Royal Mail House, Melbourne)) I grew up in as my little (45!) brother was kind enough to offer me accommodation -- while, actually I asked him but that's beside the point.

So I'm back in Glen Iris after not being here for 30+ years. If you're thinking about moving to the 3146 postcode, I'll tell you this -- lycra, bike, dog.

Having lived here again after thirty years, I miss the creek, the tip and the whole fact that the area has been yuppified -- and lots of them cold shoulder me as I'm not in their league (viz. no lycra, no bike and my dog's in the NE suburbs.

It shocks me that Mrs. Hardy's has become very trendified. Heck they still sell the standard fare but now she has barriristas (a number of them I think) and does a big trend in (you guessed it) lycra/bikes/dogs types --they do put aside papers for me every so often however.
