My Old Dad

My Old Dad had some interesting expressions when I was growing up, although I neither appreciated nor understood them at the time. Some examples:

When caught picking ones nose:
1 -- "Don't pick me, I'm not playing"
2 -- "Pick a winner?"

When one has built a sub-optimal billy-cart:
1 -- "If it went any slower it'd be going backwards"

When a "well developed young lass" appeared on Kevin Dennis New Faces:
1 -- "She'll be a big help to her mother when she grows up"

When running late for Mass on Sunday (RC):
1 -- "If Father's late, we'll be early"
